Quality Assurance Toolkit Approval and Implementation Meeting | Bogotá, Colombia

The EQUAM LA project held a face-to-face event this week in Bogota, Colombia. This meeting took place on 23, 24 and 25 March 2022 and the theme that brought the partners to this long awaited meeting was the approval and implementation of the Toolkit for quality assurance.

The Fundación Área Andina, a member of ASCUN, hosted the event at its headquarters in the Colombian capital.

Elizabeth Bernal, Academic Coordinator of ASCUN and Martha Castellanos, Academic Vice Rector of the Fundación Área Andina were in charge of opening the event and welcoming the EQUAM LA project delegation.

During this meeting the partners were able to learn about the status of the project through the presentation made by the coordinator, Cecilia Ruiz from the Universidad de Murcia and also Pablo Oñate from ANECA and the Universidad de Valencia presented the progress made in the Toolkit for quality assurance.

ASCUN and the Fundación Área Andina organised a series of complementary activities for the project members in addition to the presentation of the toolkit, including a meeting with the teaching staff of the Andean institution and a discussion with the agents involved entitled “The importance of the internationalisation of universities for students, employers, researchers and society”.

For the last day of the event, a series of working groups have been planned, divided between the Quality Committee, led by the CNEA, and the Dissemination Committee, led by OBREAL Global.

Before presenting the conclusions of the event, the deliverables of the project that have been developed so far were presented. These are a) the toolbox, presented by ANECA, b) the project synergies, presented by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the collection of best practices, presented by CONEAU.

Finally, Elizabeth Bernal, Academic Coordinator of ASCUN, gave a lecture entitled: “Follow-up to the Colombian commitment to move towards a new regulatory framework for quality assurance”.

The event was closed by the leaders of the host institutions. On behalf of the Fundación Área Andina its Rector Dr. José Leonardo Valencia and on behalf of ASCUN Dr. Oscar Domínguez González.

The next tasks of the project will be related to the constitution of the expert teams and the visits to the universities in the Latin American countries to implement the toolbox.

The next consortium meeting will take place in Madrid, hosted by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, in November 2022.
